Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, my friends!

I wanted to take a moment and start the new year with gratitude for how wonderful this past year turned out to be. As some of you might know, I took some time off last year to work on other projects and let my business slide for a bit. I followed my heart and helped rescue a great many animals with my images. I photographed another calendar and helped to start a new non-profit foundation. All of this wouldn’t have been possible without your support. You’ve been fans of my pages, you’ve liked and shared my work, you’ve sent me encouraging emails, and you’ve donated and rescued right along with me. I expected my business to fall off a little bit because I wasn’t promoting for profits and again, Asheville surprised me! I had as much work as I could handle (even a bit more) and you were patient and kind and loved most everything that came out of my camera. My heart is profoundly full of love for my community.

This next year promises to be just as gorgeously full. I have hired an AMAZING company (Kudzu Brands in Black Mountain, NC) to help me take a closer look at my work and help me focus on my values.

  • Being authentic
  • Educate where I can about animal rights and treatment
  • Showing compassion
  • Being insanely creative
  • Striving to be completely original

You’ll also notice that I’m consolidating my brands into one entity…ME!

One important thing that Kudzu did for me was evaluate my business and try to identify what I really do with a camera. Imagine my surprise when they came up with ‘Sheryl Mann, Animal Photo Artist”! It took a bit of convincing for me to realize that that is exactly what I do on a regular basis, I just never really saw it. For me, It’s not just about snapping a picture. It’s about crafting a compelling story around an animal and showing the true heart and soul of the creature in front of my camera. Not only do I accept that challenge on a daily basis, but I continue to strive to capture the emotional connections as well. That’s what gets me out of bed in the morning….well, that and a very large cup of coffee!

(By the way, I really can’t say enough great things about Kudzu. You’ll really want to check them out and hire them with your business branding needs. You won’t be sorry. )

Flying Dogs Photography hasn’t gone away necessarily but has merged with my other brand, “Sheryl Mann Photography”. My website just got a face-lift too and I’m so in love! I’m planning on announcing a new line of gift items soon where you’ll see the name “Flying Dogs” again. I will also be re-tooling my print packages and have some fun offerings that will hopefully entice you to stop by the studio. My logo resembles my signature and it serves as a promise that I will continue to show that animals have a critical place in our lives and hopefully, you’ll want to hug your pets a little closer after seeing some of my work. Hopefully too, you’ll open your hearts and your homes to an animal in need or provide a much needed item to a local rescue, whether it’s a bag of food or your attention with walking a rescue dog.

So….in the next few weeks, I’ll be unveiling the new logo and some new “characters” that will make you smile. In the mean time, check out my new and improved website here at sherylmannphotography.com.

Much love from the Flying Dogs/Sheryl Mann command center (aka my desk) and here’s to an amazing new year! As always, if you need to reach me or just want to make me smile, email me at sherylmann@charter.net. (Eventually, I will have a fancy email too but let’s just take this slow.)
