I must admit, my little heart got three sizes bigger yesterday when I saw my image on the cover of the Mountain Express. I’ve had images make the cover of smaller publications in Asheville, but I consider this one a nice little feather in my cap.
We were shooting for the 2015 “Who rescued Whom” fundraising calendar and this was the first in a long and sometimes grueling schedule to seek out 12 inspirational families that adopted their pets only to discover that their pets had somehow rescued them in return. It turned out that this shot was part of the series that ended up on the cover of the calendar. It was an absolute joy to meet Kate and her dog Chloe and the bond they have is remarkable. I remember looking at the proofs and found tears welling up in my eyes as I remembered Kate’s story and saw that I had captured the spark of love between them. It was really an emotional moment. Many thanks my dear friend Jennifer Mesk for being the second shooter on this project!
